Impact Snapshot (Mendoza & Fitzpatrick, 2025; Missouri Department of Health, 2025; O’Neill, 2025):

  • 21.6% of working-age adults in Texas are uninsured — the highest rate in the nation.
  • 13.1% of Missouri women ages 19–44 are uninsured.
  • 1 in 4 women in Texas and nearly 1 in 5 in Missouri avoid needed care because of cost.
  • Missouri reports among the highest rates of poor mental health among women 18–64.
  • Suicide remains a leading cause of death among women ages 18–44.

When therapy is financially out of reach, women delay care until crisis.

Covered Girl Collaborative removes cost as a barrier by funding therapy sessions for uninsured and underinsured women in Missouri and Texas before distress becomes emergency.
