Covered Girl Collaborative

Through my work as a therapist, there are a significant number of women who cannot even afford a Market Place Plan copay or may be caught between the barrier of Medicaid vs Medicare which will not cover the fee for service, leaving them underinsured. NAMI (2022) suggests 1 in 4 people cannot get mental health treatment due to cost. Likewise, the National Council on Mental-Wellbeing (2022) posits that 42% of U.S. adults who needed care in the previous 12 months did not get it because of costs and other barriers.

To reduce financial barriers to care, Covered Girl Incorporated provides structured, licensed outpatient mental health therapy to women in need. Each participant receives six sessions at no cost.

The Covered Girl Collaborative functions as a structured access-to-care model, ensuring that women who identify emotional or mental health needs, whether through community outreach, referral partnerships, or the Covered Girl Conference—have continued access to professional therapeutic support throughout the year. By bridging the gap between awareness and access, the program strengthens individual stability, family functioning, and overall community well-being.

The Covered Girl Collaborative is designed for women who:
